Soy Free Scratch n' Corn is a Non-GMO Project Verified and Certified Organic product. We use a blend of Pacific Northwest grown organic corn, organic wheat and organic barley from Certified Organic farms throughout the region.
This product is intended as a supplemental treat to a complete diet feed as it does not contain trace nutrients, probiotics and enzymes found in Scratch and Peck Layer formulas. Scratch should be offered in smaller amounts than their daily feed due to the high carbohydrate content which can result in fattening your birds.
Organic Scratch n' Corn is an excellent treat choice for winter; the added corn helps your hens deal with cold as it is easily digested & contains a high level of carbohydrates which provide energy to keep your chickens warm. In warmer weather try our Naturally Free 3-Grain Scratch as this mix contains slower digesting grains helping to prevent overheating during warm months.
Guaranteed Analysis:
Crude Protein MIN 9.00%
Crude Fat MIN 3.00%
Crude Fiber MAX 4.50%
Ash MAX 2.50%
FEEDING INFORMATION
Soy Free Scratch n' Corn should be fed to chickens, ducks and turkeys as a supplement to a complete diet such as Soy Free Layer. Soy Free Scratch n' Corn and Naturally Free 3-Grain Scratch are not formulated as complete diets because they do not provide the proper nutritional requirements.
Scratch n' Corn may be used to train your flock to come when you call! Simply toss out a handful of scratch while calling and they will learn that your call results in fresh tasty grain for them to scratch and peck at! Toss in any areas you would like them to come - such as their coop at dusk - or in their nesting boxes to keep bedding loose and dry. This is an excellent way to promote forage scratching or you may choose to feed it free choice in a separate feeder.
Scratch n' Corn provides an energy boost which can help laying hens handle cooler temperatures or with feather development during molting season. It is also an excellent addition to your broilers' feed to boost carbohydrate levels.
Be sure to offer the appropriate sized grit and plenty of fresh water!
Scratch can be used to offset protein content in a maintenance diet but we caution against providing too much as reduced protein may result in a deficiency with a potential for feather plucking or reduction in egg laying.
